Digital Media Portfolio: Video - Photography - Website Design - Social Media Management
Hello there! My name is Sarah Waddell and I’m a bit of a multimedia jack-of-all-trades. I’m a digital media and film school nerd and have since used those skills in my career as a journalist, photographer, and communications guru. Whether covering hurricanes in Florida, shooting a wedding or some wildlife, or designing a website for a nonprofit, I always have a camera in hand and storytelling at heart.
Greccio Housing - Communications Associate
The fun thing about “Communications” is that it is a fun umbrella under which you can choose your adventure. At Greccio Housing I was able to produce, film, and edit videos to spotlight the incredible resources they offer, create a new website from scratch, manage social media, and design monthly newsletters, flyers, and all collateral.
Greccio Housing provides a weekly No-Cost food pantry for their nearly 1,000 residents. With partnerships with Care and Share, Food to Power, Trader Joe’s, Sprouts, and Go Puff, Greccio is able to provide residents with fresh produce, meat and eggs, and shelf-stable staples.
The Pet Cross Mobile Vet Clinic is a nonprofit that services pets of the homeless, low-income, or senior citizens that need help. The clinic provides vaccines, check-ups, and general care to cats and dogs. Greccio reached out to Pet Cross in 2021 to see if a partnership would be possible and they very excitedly agreed to come service Greccio pets every six months. Learn more HERE
Design
One of my favorite aspects of my Communications job with Greccio Housing has been designing and managing the monthly newsletters and all flyers and social media posts. Here are a few of my designs:
When I started my Communications role at Greccio Housing, their website was terribly outdated and had not been touched or updated in years. The platform was slow and inefficient. I created a new website for Greccio Housing that was much more modern, more intuitive to navigate, included up-to-date information, and utilized sharper photos and video for a more interactive user experience. The new site offers better analytics and SEO.
WRCB - Photojournalist
I spent several years as a photo/video journalist at the NBC affiliate in Chattanooga, TN. During that time, I was privileged enough to cover hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, presidential rallies and debates, murder trials, breaking news, and the important stories of the Tennessee Valley. Each day I’d conduct and film interviews, film b-roll, edit together multiple packages, and get them to air by primetime.

Photography
I love to shoot news stories, weddings, and whatever I can. But my absolute favorite thing in the world is wildlife photography. I’ve always had a great love of animals and the outdoors and being able to capture amazing creatures in their natural environments is such an incredible experience. Nothing brings me more joy than getting to see and photograph wildlife wherever I travel.
